Poker Bluff

There are very few poker players who do not know how to bluff. Well, I might be wrong; there might be no poker player who does not know how to bluff.

One requirement of a good and successful poker player is his or her ability to bluff. Bluffing has a vital role in the game poker.

We can easily say that bluffing is one of the most talked-about and the most considered concepts of poker. Most gamblers might not agree but, yes bluffing is an important tool in playing poker.

There are pros and cons to bluffing. If you do not know how to bluff or you do not bluff, tendencies are you will be predicted too easily by your opponents. And this could result in you either maximizing your chances of winning the pot or not.

On the other hand, there are disadvantages when players bluff too much. This is a test of patience and knowing the proper timing when to bluff.

You should bluff only with the right stroke, that is if you have the best chance of winning and if you are to steal the pot before anyone plays their cards.

It will be rather difficult to know whether your bluff can cost you or not. Yet for some reasons bluffing can help players one way of the other.

Winning is not at all about bluffing; it is more on skills and strategy. Bluffing is only a piece of the puzzle.

You should bluff in some point in your game, but before doing so, consider the following factors first.

1. The kind of opponents on the table.

Bluffing is not recommended with weak opponents in front of you, especially if your opponents are "calling stations".

2. Consider the number of players.

If you are playing the limit poker game with three or more players, do not bluff. A good bluff can only be taken by one opponent only. The more opponent you have the less chance for you to make a successful bluff.

3. Regard your table image.

If you are on a losing streak, a bluff might not help you succeed. If you are also caught bluffing, you will be tagged by this and eventually all your future game of poker will be based on this one time caught.

4. Know your "reading" skills.

When we say about "reading" it means recognizing bluffs and poker tells. There are different ways of reading your opponent at the poker table. Make sure that you know how to read your opponent's actions.

You can have a better bluff if you knew what was in their hands. However, this is one of the most difficult skills to master.

5. Study the board.

If you have a card that can scare, then it is the right time to bluff. But if you have a down card, it is not the right time to bluff.

6. Count the pot size.

There should be a good reason for you to bluff; this is winning a bigger pot. Otherwise, do not bluff.
